Gardens in Education

Reconnecting children with nature has become a popular topic with many educators today.  Studying the interaction between plants and animals in a garden community offers educators many ways to tie science, math, English, art and environmental studies together in a fun and safe learning environment.  Child experts around the country are urging those involved with children, to increase the amount play time in natural settings that children are exposed to.   Activities can be simple, require a minimal number of materials and can include lessons in nutrition, composting, habitat studies and environmental stewardship.
